Printing and Publishing Staff Schedules
There are two dominant points of view involved with staff schedules: the point of view of the individual and the point of view of the manager. Often the same scheduling content needs to be published in different formats depending on one’s perspective. Individual staff are more interested about “what shift am I on?” and prefer alphabetically ordered schedules, so they can locate their name faster and see what shifts or assignments they have. Manager’s on the other hand are more interested about “who is on when?” and prefer chronologically ordered schedules, so they can locate dates and shift times to see who is working when.
Two main types of schedule can be printed. Day plan schedule which contains detailed information that can be ordered chronologically, which means the first employees working that day are listed at the top, or alphabetically by staff name. A
weekly or monthly schedule can be ordered either alphabetically or chronologically, employees being listed on the left hand side of the grid, with the days and dates of the week on the top of the grid. Alternative schedule formats are available to provide variations on these two themes, including assignment and unavailability listings.
A web wizard publishes
fully hyperlinked schedules to a web location for convenient and universal access by anyone in the organization. A dynamic publishing option ensures web schedules are kept up to date every time a staff schedule is modified and saved.
